The Law and Psychology/Psychological Science Have Enormous Overlap.
Both disciplines address the ways humans think and behave, and why they make the decisions they do.
Psychology strives to understand the bases behind people’s actions, whereas the law seeks to regulate them.
The two work best together when the insight derived from psychological study is used to shape the ways the laws are written and implemented, and when psychological expertise is used to improve the way the legal system works in practice.
The two disciplines interact, influence, bolster, undermine, regulate, and contradict one another—and greater understanding can lead to progress in both domains, using knowledge from each to advance the agendas of the other. Learning to draw on my legal background and my psychological expertise as sources of insight has granted me a better perspective on both.
Below are some of my recent projects and publications.
